Bio
Ryan Maier is a singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Taking a new musical direction and away from his usual amplified past, Ryan now finds himself flying solo with just the acoustic guitar. Reaching across genres, Ryan brings together elements of fingerstyle folk, blues, and jazz, while using the slide to forge it all into a unique musical vocabulary. Ryan's inspirations are similarly diverse, ranging from The Allman Brothers, Leon Russell, Jason Isbell, Warren Zevon, to Sonny Landreth and John Scofield. As a performing and recording musician, Ryan has played the electric guitar for many years, even as an on-call sideman for Winnipeg blues legend Big Dave McLean back in the early 2000s. After some challenging years, family tragedies, and related spirals, Ryan turned to the acoustic and got back to the basics. Alive and inspired, Ryan released his first solo (demo) EP in the spring of 2024, which was quickly followed by another in 2025. And the productivity continues, as Ryan is looking to release his next record in summer of 2026. [See EPK for a more detailed Bio.]
